For a number of years I’ve been giving talks and creative writing workshops at schools, colleges, universities, book groups and online. With playwright Shaun McCarthy I am the co-founder of Stage And Page, which hosts creative writing weekends and workshops across the country.

I am happy to speak to and/or teach groups of any size and age. I make workshops fun, absorbing and inspiring, with the aim of helping students reach their writing goals with a high degree of satisfaction.

As a writer I know how tricky the process can be. I am available for one-to-one writing mentoring, helping people already working on a manuscript to step through difficulties and blockages to produce a writing project they can be proud of. Please contact me for more information and prices.

After attending a number of Tom’s writing workshops, I asked if Tom could be my writing mentor. I had gained so much from his workshops and I wanted to take my writing to the next level. Tom is a talented writer and he brought his enthusiasm and knowledge of the writing craft to each of our sessions. Tom and I met frequently over the course of a year and covered a range of topics from story/plot and the narrative arc to dialogue, character development and discussions on the various writing genres. I was able to go away each time with what I had learnt and produce a range of pieces from short stories to longer ideas for novel submissions. By the end of the year, thanks to Tom’s continued support, I felt confident enough to submit my writing to apply for an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. I was accepted last year and I am now in the final trimester of my studies. I cannot recommend Tom enough if you are looking to make writing a valuable part of your life.
